Tigers with comeback win over Peregrine

HAMMOND, Ind. – It was a slow start for the Olivet Nazarene University volleyball team, but the Tigers picked up a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference win over Purdue University – Calumet (Ind.) on Thursday, Oct. 31 after dropping the opening set. The Tigers lacked consistency in their attack game and serving falling 23-25 before coming back to take the next three sets 25-11, 25-12, 25-17.
Seniors McKenzie Thompson (Plano, Texas) led the Tigers with 14 kills with just four errors in 30 attempts (.333), while Katelyn Miller ( ) added 12 kills and three blocks. Junior Heidi Schoenbein (Morton, Ill.) finished with ten kills and three blocks.
Freshman Katie Tabisz (Lockport, Ill.) dished out 33 assists on the night, plus added five kills and a service ace. Sophomore Renee Enz (Wilmington, Ill.) added 21 assists. Junior libero Haley Hatalla (Manteno, Ill.) finished the night with 22 digs while adding two service aces.
Olivet (19-18, 12-4) returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 5 to take on Indiana University – South Bend at 7:00 p.m. in McHie Arena. The Tigers will honor their three seniors, Rachel Raynor (DeKalb, Ill.), Miller and Thompson, before the important CCAC matchup.
