BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup between the Olivet Nazarene University volleyball team and Indiana University-South Bend was important for both teams as they prepare for the post-season. A Tiger win would have solidified third place in the South Division, a loss would put the two teams in a tie and make Thursday’s matches extremely important. The Titans proved too much for the Tigers to handle, coming away with a 3-1 win (2-20, 25-20, 18-25, 27-25).
Senior Katelyn Miller (Avon, Ind.) used the night to honor the three seniors as an excuse to shine. She finished the night with 13 kills with just three errors in 22 attempts for an astounding .455 attack percentage. She also had a team-high four blocks on the night.
Sophomore Becky DeRuiter (Chicago Heights, Ill.) finished with 15 kills in 35 attempts with just two errors (.371), while junior Heidi Schoenbein (Morton, Ill.) added 11 kills with two errors in 22 attempts (.409). Setting up the offense was sophomore Renee Enz (Wilmington, Ill.) who dished out 28 assists, while freshman Katie Tabisz (Lockport, Ill.) added 22. Tabisz also added nine kills in 14 attempts with one error (.571) and four blocks. Junior libero Haley Hatalla (Manteno, Ill.) led the defense with 17 digs.
