Tigers eliminated from CCAC Tourney by Trolls

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – In a season of ups and down, the Olivet Nazarene University volleyball team entered the semifinals of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament hoping for an up, but came away with a 3-0 loss to regular season champion Trinity Christian College (Ill.) on Tuesday, Nov. 14. The Trolls dominated from the beginning, winning 25-17, 25-11, 25-13 to advance to the finals.
The Tigers (21-20) finished the day with a dismal attack percentage of -.071 with 23 kills in 125 attempts with 32 errors. Senior McKenzie Thompson (Plano, Texas) and sophomore Becky DeRuiter (Chicago Heights, Ill.) led Olivet with seven kills each. DeRuiter is the only Tiger to finish with a positive attack percentage (.136) with four errors in 22 attempts. Sophomore setter Renee Enz (Wilmington, Ill.) ran a 5-1 offense with fellow setter freshman Katie Tabisz (Lockport, Ill.) still out with an injury. Enz finished with 20 assists in 103 attempts.
Olivet will now wait for finalization of the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) North Central Regional. The Tigers will play a one-match regional on either Nov. 22 or 23.
