BOURBONNAIS, Ill. –After two tough road trips, the Olivet Nazarene University volleyball team returned to their home court on Tuesday, Sept. 4 to take on Trinity Christian College (Ill.). The Tigers who had faced five teams ranked in the NAIA top 12 in their first seven matches, had hoped to solidify some consistency and put things on the right track. However, it was not enough to hold off the Trolls who took the match in straight sets-26-24, 25-19, 25-18.
The Tigers (1-7, 0-1)) kept things close in the first set, but were unable to overcome the Trolls (5-4, 1-0) in the final two sets. Freshman Becky DeRuiter (Chicago Ridge, Ill.) and senior Katherine Hozian (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) provided most of the Tiger offense, recording 11 and ten kills respectively. Freshman Renee Enz (Wilmington, Ill.) provided 23 assists, while junior Rachel Raynor (DeKalb, Ill.) added five.
Olivet returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 6 taking on Purdue University-North Central at 7 p.m.
