BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Ashley Freeman, a 5-7 guard from Slinger High School in Hartford, Wis. has signed a letter of intent to continue her education and playing career as a member of the Olivet Nazarene University women’s basketball team.
“Ashley is a great example of what it means to be a student athlete. She works hard in the classroom and on the court,” said head coach Lauren Stamatis. “Her solid perimeter play and three point shooting will be a welcome addition to our team.”
A four-year varsity starter at Slinger, Freeman averaged 11 points and 4.1 assists per game. She also added 3.4 steals and 4.3 rebounds. Her 38 percent from behind the arc will fit nicely with Olivet’s “Tigerball” style of play.
Freeman, who received high honors recognition academically in high school, plans to major in pre-medicine while at Olivet.
“I love the coaches; they are so easy to be around and fun to talk to,” said Freeman when asked about her decision. “The size of Olivet is perfect, and the campus is very pretty. Olivet has a good pre-med program, as well.
Ashley is the daughter of Fred and Kim Freeman.
