BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - Averaging nearly a point per minute and shooting 82.4 percent from the field over two games, Olivet Nazarene University's Ashley Wilson (Portage, Mich.) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Dec. 2.
Wilson, a 5-11 sophomore forward, averaged 19.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in 21.5 minutes of playing time per game in a pair of victories for the Tigers, including a 90-79 decision over NAIA No. 16-ranked Cardinal Stritch University on Saturday.
Wilson opened the week with a 23-point, 7-rebound, 3-steal performance in a 93-44 victory over Trinity Christian College on Wednesday. Twenty-two of Wilson's 23 points came in the opening half and she finished the game converting 9 of her 11 shots from the field in just 20 minutes of action.
In the win over Cardinal Stritch, Wilson just missed out on a double-double with her 15 points and nine rebounds. She missed only one shot from the field that day (5-of-6) to finish off a 14-of-17 accuracy mark for the week.
The two wins put Olivet Nazarene in a three-way tie for first place in the conference. The Tigers, 6-1 both overall and in the league, are tied with Roosevelt University and Saint Xavier University. They are currently ranked No. 1 in the North Central Region and 5th nationally in the NCCAA.
