ELGIN, Ill. – Freshman Krystal James (Rockford, Ill.) had her second career-high performance in a row, this time tallying 19 points against Judson University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Tuesday, Dec. 18. James and the Tigers walked away with a 110-59 win, maintaining their lead atop the CCAC standings.
James finished the evening shooting 7-of-11 from the field and 5-of-8 from behind the arch. Junior Liz Bart (Cary, Ill) finished with 15 points, all of which came from three pointers. She also pulled in a team-leading, career-high six rebounds.
Olivet (10-1, 7-1) played a balanced game, scoring 55 points in each half. The finished the evening shooting 44.7 percent from the field (38-of-85) and three point line (21-of-47). They also pulled in a total of 45 rebounds, 22 offensive and 23 defensive.
“We started playing much better together tonight within our units,” said head coach Lauren Stamatis. “We shot the ball well and did a nice job on the offensive boards, exceeding our goal with 47-percent offensive rebounds.”
The Eagles (4-9, 1-7) did this while shutting down sophomore Ashley Wilson (Portage, Mich.). Wilson, who leads the Tigers in scoring average (17.36) and rebounds (4.09 offensive, 2.36 defensive), was held to just 11 points on the night and one rebound.
Freshman Jessica Gerig (Stillman Valley, Ill.) added a career-high 13 points, including going 4-of-7 from behind the three-point line. Junior Tai Peachey (Galesburg, Ill.) dished out a career-high eight assists, while adding four points and two rebounds.
Olivet will take a shortened holiday break, returning to action on Friday, Dec. 28 at 7:30 p.m. (CST) when they take on Vanguard University (Cal.) in the Biola Classic. They will face the host team, Biola University (Cal.), at 9:30 p.m. (CST) the following evening.
