Tigers bring home a big win

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. - The No. 12 Olivet Nazarene University women’s Tigers Basketball brought home a win on Saturday, Jan. 26 , defeating Trinity Christian College (Ill.) 103-47. The Tigers took a first half 53-15 lead into the locker room, then scored another 50 points in the second half to remain atop the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) standings.
“We bounced back well from a tough week last week and met all of our game goals against Trinity,” head coach Lauren Stamatis stated after the game. “I thought our energy was much better and this is something we just need to build on.”
Sophomore forward Ashley Wilson (Portage, Ill.) and junior guard Liz Bart (Cary, Ill.) were the top scorers of the game, each scoring 20 points, with Wilson adding five steals. Senior Danielle Tolbert (Portage, Mich.) added 13 points, seven assists and five steals, while pulling down a team-leading eight rebounds. Junior Miranda Geever (Moline, Ill.) swiped the ball five times from the Trolls, while adding seven points and three assists.
The Tigers (18-5, 14-3) face CCAC foe Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at the Wolves’ home court. The Wolves rank forth in the CCAC standing with a record of 14-4, right behind the Olivet, Roosevelt University (Ill.) and Saint Xavier University (Ill.) sitting in a three-way tie at 14-3. When the two teams faced off on Dec. 1, the Tigers walked away with a 90-79 home court victory.
