BOURBONNAIS, Ill. –Having dropped three of their last four games, the No. 12 Olivet Nazarene University women’s basketball team needed a big win against Robert Morris University (Ill.) to help get rebuild some confidence and prepare for the post-season. The Tigers did just that, walking away on Saturday, Feb. 2 with a 102-91 win over the visiting Eagles.
Olivet (19-6, 14-4) had four players finish the afternoon in double-digits, led by sophomore Ashley Wilson (Portage, Mich.) with 18 and junior Miranda Geever (Moline, Ill.) with 17. Junior Malory Adams (Aurora, Ill.) added 12, while senior Danielle Tolbert (Pontiac, Mich.) and junior Liz Bart (Cary, Ill.) contributed 11 each.
Adams led the Tigers with eight rebounds, while adding two assists. Wilson and sophomore Tai Peachey (Galesburg, Ill.) were right behind with seven boards each. Geever also added five rebounds, seven assists and three steals on the afternoon.
Senior Sandy Cabadas (Aurora, Ill.) continues to dominate in the paint, producing three blocks on the afternoon. She is currently ranked 11th in the NAIA with 51 total blocks on the season.
The Tigers, who are vying for position in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference in order to gain home court advantage in the tournament, received some help over the weekend as Purdue University-Calumet defeated Saint Xavier University and Roosevelt University defeated Cardinal Stritch University. Olivet now sits in a three way tie for second place.
Olivet will travel to Calumet College of Saint Joseph (Ind.) on Wednesday, Feb. 6 for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off against the Crimson Wave. The Tigers won 115-81 when the two teams faced off on Dec. 15.
