Five Tigers recognized as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Five Olivet Nazarene University women’s basketball players were recognized as 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. A total of 178 NAIA Division II women’s basketball student-athletes received the honor, with Olivet tied with Davenport University (Mich.), Morningside University (Iowa), Rochester University (Mich.), Saint Mary University (Kan.) and Tennessee Wesleyan University for the lead amongst all institutions with five honorees.
Receiving the honor for the Tigers were seniors Rachel Kearney (Marion, Iowa) and Devin Johnston (Bloomingdale, Ill.) and juniors Taylor Haymes (Wenzville, Mo.), Miranda Geever (Moline, Ill.) and Liz Bart (Cary, Ill.).Kearney and Haymes are both repeat honorees.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
