BOURBONNIS, Ill. – Jayne Stuart, a native of Jackson, Michigan, has signed a letter of intent to continue her playing career as a member of the Olivet Nazarene University women’s basketball team. Stuart comes to Olivet from Jackson Community College in Jackson, Michigan.
“Jayne is a perfect addition to Tigerball and our team. Having played the system at Jackson Community College for a year she already understands what we are trying to do and will fit seamlessly into our game, said head coach Lauren Stamatis on her new point guard. “She’s a competitor and adds some experience to our team. We’re excited to celebrate her as an addition to our squad.”
Stuart, a 5-8 point guard, averaged 10.8 points per game as a freshman at JCC, while dishing out 2.4 assists. She also averaged 1.8 steals and 3.6 rebounds. As a senior at Lumen Christi Catholic High School, she averaged 12.4 points and six rebounds per game. She was recognized as MVP her junior and senior year.
“I chose Olivet because I believe it will give me the best opportunity to grow in my education, athletics and faith,” said Stuart of her decision. “It seemed like the right fit for me and I am very excited to be attending next year.”
While at Olivet, Stuart intends to major in exercise science. She is the daughter of Mike and Mary Stuart.
