BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – You can tell a lot about a team by the way they come back after a loss. The Olivet Nazarene University women’s basketball team showed their character with a 109-96 win over Clarke University (Iowa) on Wednesday, Nov. 13 after a tough homecoming loss the weekend before.

The Tigers (2-3) jumped out to an early lead against the visiting Crusaders and never looked back, despite a late charge by Clarke in the second half. Olivet had seven players finish with double-digit, led by senior Miranda Geever (Moline, Ill.) with 22. She also added two assists, two blocks, six rebounds and three steals.

Senior Liz Bart (Cary, Ill.) added 15 points, all from behind the three-point line. Senior Malory Adam (Aurora, Ill.) finished with 14 points, five rebounds and a season-high five blocks.

Junior Dakota Hack (Bristol, Tenn.) posted a season-high ten points, while pulling down four rebounds. She also dished out two assists and recorded two steals. Freshman Ashley Freeman (Hartford, Wis.) also recoded a season-high night, finishing with ten points and four steals. Senior Taylor Haymes (Wentzville, Mo.) and sophomore Jayne Stuart (Jackson, Mich.) added 11 points each.

Olivet will open their Chicagoland Collegiate Athletics Conference schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 20 taking on No. 21 Purdue University-Calumet (Ind.) at 5:30 p.m. in McHie Arena. The two teams battled each other three times last season, with the Peregrine winning two, including a 99-112 matchup in the semifinals of the CCAC Tournament.
