Geever lands CCAC Player of the Week honors

CHICAGO --- Averaging better than one point for every minute played and both a steal and an assist every three minutes in two conference wins, Olivet Nazarene University's Miranda Geever (Moline, Ill.) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the seven-day period from Feb. 2-9, it was announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
Geever, a 5-8 senior guard, averaged 20.0 points, 7.5 steals, 7.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game despite playing only a combined 36 minutes in the two contests. She also shot .520 from the field (13-of-25) and .857 from the foul line (12-of-14) in the two affairs.
Geever totaled 12 points, nine steals and seven assists in 19 minutes of action in the Tigers' 106-90 victory against University of St. Francis on Thursday night. Less than two days later, she registered 28 points, seven assists, six steals and three rebounds in just 17 minutes of a 125-92 win over Holy Cross College on Saturday afternoon. In the latter affair, she was also 4-for-5 from three-point range as part of an overall 9-of-13 mark from the field.
Geever currently leads the nation in steals per game (4.0), while ranking 17th in assists per game (4.8) and 18th in scoring (18.7 ppg).
Among others receiving votes in the latest NAIA coaches' poll, Olivet Nazarene is 18-8 overall and 11-3 in conference play.
