BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- After surging past Holy Cross College a few nights ago, Olivet Nazarene University women's basketball team hoped to replicate that same success against Calumet College of St. Joseph on Wednesday, Feb. 12. The Tigers won 121-75. Interestingly, the Tigers had a very similar game compared to their game against St. Francis a few nights ago. Olivet did not shoot particularly well against Calumet College, but caused Calumet College to turn the ball over 44 times. 30 of those turnovers by Calumet were steals by Olivet.
Olivet (19-8, 12-3) was led by senior Malory Adam (Aurora, Ill.) who finished with 21 points, seven rebounds, and six blocks. Senior Liz Bart (Cary, Ill.) also tallied 21 points and two steals. Freshman Ashley Freeman (Hartford, Wis.) added 14 points, while senior Miranda Geever (Moline, Ill.) recorded 11 points, nine assists, four rebounds, and four steals. Also recording double-digits were sophomore Holly Carter (Pueblo, Colo.) who totaled 10 points and three steals and sophomore Cortney Allenbaugh (Morton, Ill.) with 10 points and four rebounds.
The Tigers' game against Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday, Feb. 15 has been cancelled. So, Olivet's next game will be at No. 17 Cardinal Stritch University on Wednesday, Feb. 19 for a huge CCAC match-up. Currently, Olivet is 12-3, while Cardinal Stritch is 11-4 in the CCAC standings. In the last two meetings, each team has grabbed a win. On Dec. 1, 2012 Olivet won 90-79 at home, while on Jan. 30, 2013 Cardinal Stritch won 73-69 on their home court.
