HAMMOND, Ind. - Late in every athletes career there comes a time of realization that THIS could be my last game. The four seniors of the Olivet Nazarene University women's basketball team came to that realization and are playing with one thing in mind...this is NOT going to end now. Just two days ago, senior Miranda Geever (Moline, Ill.) connected on a game-winning jumper with less than four seconds to play in the Quarterfinals of the Chicagoalnd Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. On Friday, Feb. 28, she did it again, this time at the buzzer to help the Tigers upset No. 5 Saint Xavier University (Ill.) 91-89 in the semifinals. The win puts the Tigers in the championships game against regular season champion Purdue University - Calumet and clinches a bid to the NAIA National Tournament later this month.

The four TigerBall (22-9) seniors once again led the way in the victory, all finishing in double-digits. Geever led the way with 18 points, but Malory Adam (Aurora, Ill.) was right behind with 15. Adam also pulled down a team-leading seven rebounds. Liz Bart (Cary, Ill.) and Taylor Haymes (Wentzville, Mo.) each added 12 points.

The Cougars led the entire game until late in the second half, led by junior Morgan Stuut who finished with 33 points and 15 rebounds. Junior Suzie Broski added 27 points, while Niara Harris added 13.

Olivet junior Dakota Hack (Bristol, Tenn.) also put together a solid performance, finishing with seven points and five rebounds. Freshman Carley Nicolas (Momence, Ill.) added eight points. Geever also added six assists and three steals on the night.

The Tigers will return to Hammond, Ind. to take on the Peregrines of Purdue University-Calument. The Peregrine have been a thorn in the Tigers side lately, winning both match-ups this season and two-of-three last season, including elimination from the tournament. The Tigers have not defeated the Peregrines since January 3, 2013. The athletic department has announced that they will cover cost of admission if our student body would like to attend. Unfortunately, no fan bus is available as all buses are already in use.
