DEARBORN, Mich. – Head Coach Lauren Stamatis and the Olivet Nazarene University women’s basketball team are pleased to announce the addition of Amelia Denison for the upcoming season. Denison recently signed a letter of intent to continue her education and playing career at Olivet.

Denison is a 5-8 guard from Southfield Christian High School in Dearborn, Michigan. Her senior season, she averaged 13.8 points per game, while pulling down 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 steals. She was named All-State Honorable Mention by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan and 2nd Team All-Michigan Independent Athletic Conference. She served as team captain for two seasons.

Off the court, Denison is a member of National Honor Society and a four year member of the Honor Roll. She will graduate Summa Cum Laude with the top GPA in the Class of 2014. She was also honored as the top student in Organic Chemistry and Math.

While at Olivet, Denison plans to study nursing. She is the daughter of Andy and Colleen Denison and sister to Ryan and Seth.

“I wanted to attend a Christian university with a strong nursing program,” said Denison of her decision. “I also wanted to have the opportunity to play collegiate basketball and I’m excited about Olivet’s up-tempo style of basketball.”
