Tigers claim CCAC championship, head to nationals

CHANNAHON, Ill. – Look out Vancouver, the No. 4 Olivet Nazarene University women’s cross country team is heading your way. The Tiger’s dominated the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 3 taking first out of 12 teams. The championship earned the Tigers a berth to the NAIA National Championships later this month.
Olivet’s top five runners finished with a combined time of 1:28:49.13, taking five spots in the top 10 overall. The University of St. Francis (Ill.) finished second, three minutes behind the Tigers. Rounding out the top five team finishes were St. Xavier University (Ill.), Illinois Institute of Technology and Trinity Christian College (Ill.).
Senior Kortney Ellingboe (Hamilton, Ill.) continues to lead the Tigers, finishing in third place overall with a finishing time of 17:35.59. Freshman Kathryn Dean (Lindenhurst, Ill.) was just three seconds behind to finish fourth. Junior Chantalle Falconer (Bryon, Ill.) came in fifth at 17:41.45. Juniors Leah Livingston (Gibson City, Ill.) and Janina Roche (Crete, Ill.) round out Olivet’s top finishers at 17:45.13 and 18:08.66, respectively.
The Tigers will travel to Vancouver, Wash. on to compete for a national championship on Saturday, Nov. 17. The meet is hosted by Concordia University-Oregon and is held at the Fort Vancouver Historical Site.
