Ray joins Tiger cross country team

WARSAW, Ill. –Sarah Ray, a senior Warsaw Community High School has signed a letter of intent to continue her education and run cross country at Olivet Nazarene University next season.
Ray, a three-sport athlete for the Tigers, finishing 33rd in the state at this year’s cross country state finals in her first season of cross country. The speedy senior was also a major factor in this year’s girls basketball team’s trek to the IHSA Final Four, and on the track this year she turned in the second fastest 3200m run in school history in her first ever attempt on the track.
Ray was instrumental in leading the Tiger Cross Country team to a Northern Lakes Conference runner up finish, third place at sectional and regional, and 10th at the semi state. She not only earned All-NLC recognition, she was named to the IATCCC All-State third team. The statewide recognition continued after this past basketball season as she was selected as Academic All-State.
Besides her many accolades in athletics, Ray has made a significant impact in areas of servant leadership throughout the school and community as she has been involved with the National Honors Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Tiger Student Athletic Board, the IHSAA Student Leadership Academy, and WCHS student council.
Ray also excels in the classroom, maintaining a 12.68 GPA. She is ranked 18th in her class of 493. While at Olivet, Ray intends to major in Dietetics. She is daughter of David and Betsy Ray.
Ray will run for Coach Mike McDowell and the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers that finished third in the NAIA just a season ago.
