SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Olivet Nazarene University women’s golf team found themselves in the middle of the pack, despite playing consistent in their two rounds at the Battle at Blackhorn in South Bend, Ind. on Sept. 24 and 25. The Tigers shot rounds of 346 and 348, finishing in fifth place in the eight team field.
The Tigers finished with a team total of 694, 46 strokes behind first place Bethel College (Ind.). Indiana Institute of Technology took second at 673, with Wheaton College (Ill.) and the University of St. Francis (Ill.) tied for third place at 680.
Senior Gwen Holmes (Princeton, Ill.) continues to lead the Tigers shooting consecutive rounds of 82 on the par 72 course. She finished the tournament tied for eighth place. Junior Ashley Miller (Springhill, Kan.) finished tied for 16th place overall having shot back-to-back rounds of 86.
Freshman Kelsey Fisk (Greenfield, Ill.) and sophomore Lydia Bilyeu (Fulton, Ill.) finished tied for 22nd place overall. Fisk shot an opening round of 90 followed by an 89. Bilyeu produced rounds of 90 and 91. Sophomore Nora Durkin (Peotone, Ill.) rounded out the top five Tiger finishers, shooting a 90 and 91, tied for 27th overall.
Olivet will return to South Bend, Ind. on Oct. 1-2 to complete in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Invitational hosted by Holy Cross College (Ind.).
