Tigers capture 3rd at USF Invite

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Led by Gwen Holmes and Ashley Miller, the Olivet Nazarene University women’s golf team, captured third place at the University of St. Francis (Ind.) Spring Invitational on April 5-6. The Tigers tallied a team total of 671 in the two-round invitational to capture their second top three finishes in as many weeks.
Holmes (Princeton, Ind.) posted a final score of 161 (79, 82) to capture a third place individual finish, while Miller (Springhill, Kan.) finished just two strokes back at 163 (85, 78) in fifth place. Freshman Kelsey Fisk (Greenfield, Ind.) finished in 12th place overall, finishing with a two-day total of 170 (91, 86). Rounding out the Tigers team was sophomore Lydia Bilyeu (Fulton, Ind.) tied for 16th with a 177 (91, 86) and senior Nora Durkin (Peotone, Ill.) in 39th with a 188 (91, 97).
Capturing the invitational title was Madonna University (Mich.) with a team total of 656, while Aquinas College (Mich.) took second with a 661. The invitational was played the 5,843 yard, par 73 Brookwood Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The Tigers will return to action on Friday, April 12 at the Bethel Pilot Invite at Blackthorn Golf Course South Bend, Ind.
