GALESBURG, Ill. – It came down to the fifth and final golfer to determine the winner of the Knox Invitational, but the Olivet Nazarene University women’s golf team captured first place over Mount Mercy College (Iowa) in the tie-breaker as both teams finished at 322. The Invite took place at Soengetaha Country Club on Friday, Sept. 6.
The Tiger’s showed they are consistent from top to bottom as three players shot rounds of 80. Senior Ashley Miller (Springhill, Kan.), junior Lydia Bilyea (Fulton, Ind.) and sophomore Kelsey Fisk (Greenfield, Ind.) all tied for third place overall, just three strokes behind the leader.
Sophomore Bridget Wolff (East Peoria, Ill.) followed up her career low round from a week ago with an 82, while freshman Sydney Tyler (Bloomington, Ill.) rounded out the top five with an 87.
Olivet will travel to South Bend, Ind. for the Battle at Blackthorn hosted by Bethel College (Ind.) from Sept. 13-14.
