MARION, Ind. – The Olivet Nazarene University women’s golf team has continued to prove that they are an up-and-coming force to be reckoned with as they captured second place at the two-day Indiana Wesleyan University Fall Invitational held Sept. 27-28 at the Arbor Trace Golf Club.
The Tigers finished the opening round on Friday with a new team record of 318, led by sophomore Bridget Wolff’s (East Peoria, Ill.) 75 and three players that finished at 81: senior Ashley Miller (Springhill, Kan.), junior Lydia Bilyeu (Fulton, Ill.) and sophomore Kelsey Fisk (Greenfield, Ind.).
Day two proved a little more difficult for the Tigers as they finished the day at 341, but held on to second place overall on the weekend. Marian University (Ind.) captured the title at the team invitational, finishing with a combined 644. Rounding out the top five were the University of Saint Francis (Ind.), Marian University “B” (Ind.) and Indiana Wesleyan University. The course is a par-72 and measures 5,835 yards total.
Miller was the definition of consistent as she followed her opening round 81 up with a matching second round score to finish tied for fourth place with Wolff who shot a second round 87. Bilyeu shot a closing round 84 to finish in ninth, while Fisk and freshman Sydney Tyler (Bloomington, Ill.) each had rounds of 89 to finish 14th and 22nd, respectively.
The Tigers will finish up their fall season at the two-day University of Saint Francis (Ill.) Fall Invitational on Oct. 4-5.
