Freshman Sydney Tyler shot 169 to finish tied for 3rd overall.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Olivet Nazarene University women’s
golf team has its sights set on returning to the NAIA National Championships. The
Tigers captured the title at the Marian University Spring Invite held on March
31-April 1 at the Broadmoor Country Club, leading from start to finish.
Led by freshman Sydney Tyler’s (Bloomington, Ill.) third
place individual finish, the Tigers combined for a two-day total of 691, three
strokes ahead of Marian. Holy Cross College (Ind.) finished in third with 752,
while Indiana Wesleyan University finished fourth at 758.
Tyler shot an opening round 83 and finished up the tournament
with an 86 to finish at 169, tied for third. Senior Ashley Miller (Springhill,
Kan.) and sophomore Bridget Wolff (East Peoria, Ill.) were only two and three strokes
behind, respectively. Miller shot an 84 and an 87 to finished sixth overall,
while Wolff shot 84 and 88 to finish tied for seventh.
Sophomore Kelsey Fisk (Greenfield, Ind.) shot consistently
over the two days, 91 in the opening round and 90 in round two to finish at 181
and tied for 13th. Junior Lydia Bilyeu (Fulton, Ill.) rounded out
the top five Tiger finishers, posting an 89 and a 93 to finish tied for 15th.
Olivet will take a little break from competition after the
back-to-back tournaments, heading to the Bethel College (Ind.) Spring
Invitational on April 11-12. The tournament will be held at the Blackthorn Golf
Club in South Bend, Ind.
