MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The No. 10 Olivet Nazarene University women’s soccer team traveled to Milwaukee, Wis. ready to play on Saturday, Sept. 29. The Tigers posted some impressive numbers in route to a 5-0 victory over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Cardinal Stritch University.
The Tigers out-shot the Wolves 20 to zero, including 14 shots-on-goal. The strong defense kept the ball away from the goal, allowing senior Wendy Espejel (Ontario, Cal.) and freshman Amanda Siciak (Bloomingdale, Ill.) to split a pretty quiet day in the net.
The offense however was quite busy. Eleven different players took shots-on-goal in the game, with five different players scoring. Freshman Elisabeth Wahl (Homer Glen, Ill.) got things started for Olivet at the 18:04 minute mark, scoring an unassisted goal.
Within five minutes of the end of the half, the Tigers notched three more goals. At 41:09 senior Emma Reutter (Mason, Mich.) netted a pass from sophomore Jessica Higer (Kuno, Idaho). One minute and 14 seconds later, Reutter made another pass to freshman Elizabeth Hetrick (Plainfield, Ind.) for another goal. Higer wasn’t finished, as she scored a goal of her own at 44:23.
The lone second half point came at the 86:32 mark on an unassisted goal by junior Jessica Bachelor (Metamora, Ill.).
Olivet will take on the Trolls of Trinity Christian College (Ill.) at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2 in Palos Heights, Ill.
