PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Freshman Elisabeth Wahl (Homer Glen, Ill.) wasted no time introducing herself to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) scoring a career-high three goals against Trinity Christian College (Ill.) on Tuesday, Oct. 2. The hat trick helped lead No. 9 Olivet Nazarene University to a 4-0 victory the Trolls, and now sit alone atop the conference standings.
Olivet (8-2, 3-0) scored its first goal at the 21:07 minute mark off of a pass by senior Meghan Pipal (Wheaton, Ill.) to Wahl. The Tigers attempted four shots in the period to just two by the Trolls. Senior goal keeper Wendy Espejel (Ontario, Cal.) notched one save in the period.
Wahl continued her dominance as she took a pass from senior Emma Reutter (Mason, Mich.) just three minutes into the second half for her second goal of the day. Wahl’s final goal came at the 61:03 minute mark, assisted by sophomore McKenzie Hengesh (Canton, Mich.). The Tigers weren’t finished though, as freshman Elizabeth Hetrick (Plainfield, Ind.) scored an unassisted goal just two minutes later.
Olivet finished the game with 12 shots, allowing just six by the Trolls. The two save effort by Espejel marked her fifth shut-out of the season.
The Tigers will host Illinois Institute of Technology at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6 in CCAC action.
