BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women’s soccer team swept the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week awards for the second time this season. Freshman Elisabeth Wahl (Homer Glen, Ill.) and senior Katrina Holm (Antioch, Ill.) received the honors for the week ending Oct. 20. Wahl has also been selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week for the same time period.
Wahl, a forward, garnered the offensive honors after scoring a goal in each of the decisive victories to keep the Tigers alone atop the league standings at 9-0. She tallied the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Robert Morris University on Tuesday before producing her second game-winning goal of the week in a 3-0 shutout of Trinity International University on Saturday.
At the time of each game, both Trinity International and Robert Morris sat right behind Olivet Nazarene (13-2 overall) in the conference standings.
Holm, a defender, got the job done defensively anchoring a unit that has not allowed a goal in conference play this season. Robert Morris was limited to just four shots in the game on Tuesday with only two being on goal. Trinity International had eight shots, only five of which were on goal.
The No. 10 Tigers can wrap up the regular-season conference title outright with a victory over University of St. Francis (Ill.) when the two teams meet on Wednesday, Oct. 24. The match-up will take place at 5 p.m. on the Tiger’s home field.
