BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced on Monday, Dec. 3 that senior Meghan Pipal has been named North Central Region Player of the Year. Pipal and four teammates-Rachel Kilbry, Katrina Holm and Katie Dirkse-were also selected on the All-Region Team and Bill Bahr was named Co-Coach of the Year.
Pipal, a midfielder from Wheaton, Ill. was a presence in the middle of the field as season. She finished the season with four goals and four assists for 12 points.
The quartet helped lead the Tigers to a 19-4-1 overall record, including finishing as runner-up in the NAIA National Tournament. Senior Dirkse, a midfielder from Downers Grove, Ill. led the Tigers in assists with five while adding one goal. Kibry, a junior midfielder from Spring Lake, Mich. finished with two goals, both of them game winners. Holm, a senior defender from Antioch, Ill. added one goal and three assists on the year. This group was instrumental in the Tigers 17 shut outs on the season, including 11 in a row.
Bahr led the Tigers to a perfect 11-0 record in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) in route to capturing the regular season title. The 11-game winning streak was further magnified by the fact that the Tigers did not allow a single goal to be scored against them, a first for the CCAC. Bahr then led the Tigers as they rewrote the record books in the NAIA National Tournament, advancing farther than any time in program history. They defeated four-time defending national champion No. 1 Lee University (Tenn.) in the semi-finals before falling to No. 2 Lindsey Wilson University (Ky.) in the final game.
