COLFAX, Ill. – The No. 3 Olivet Nazarene University women’s soccer team is pleased to announce the signing of Jenna Ayers, a native of Colfax, Illinois.
Ayers, a 5-4 midfielder, is a senior at Ridgeview High School. Because Ridgeview does not offer soccer as a varsity sport, Ayers has spent her career playing club soccer. In 2009, as a captain of the Illinois Futbol Club, Ayers and her teammates won nationals at the USYA President’s Cup, and in 2010, she was part of the Chicago Fire Juniors team that captured the Illinois State Cup Championship.
A four-year letter winner in basketball, Ayers helped lead Ridgeview to a third place finish at the 2011 IHSA 1A State Basketball Tournament. She was selected defensive first team all-conference twice, and was named defensive MVP as a junior and senior.
While at Olivet, Ayers plans to major in Spanish and Intercultural Studies. She is the daughter of Becky and Mike Ayers and has three brothers: Jeremy, Joshua and Jordan. Josh (’10) is currently the graduate assistant coach for the Tiger men’s soccer team.
“I have known that I wanted to go to Olivet since I watched my brother, Josh, play here. I remember going to the games and thinking that I wanted to be a part of this someday. When I went to my first Olivet camp in eighth grade, I basically made up my mind that this was definitely for me,” said Ayers of her decision. “However, even though soccer was the reason I began looking at Olivet, it was definitely not the reason I chose to attend. After seeing what God did in the life of my brother here at ONU, I could not wait to see what He had in store for me. I honestly cannot wait to go to a school focused on Truth and just overwhelming love. I plan to make a lot of awesome friends and grow in my relationships with Christ and others.”
