BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Olivet Nazarene University women’s soccer coach Bill Bahr is excited to announce the addition of senior Ashley Aragona (Waxhaw, N.C.) to the Tiger’s roster for the fall of 2013. Aragona comes to Olivet from Lee University (Tenn.) where she was a three-year letter winner for the Flames.
Aragona, a 5-6 forward, played in 22 games last season for the perennial powerhouse. She was third on the team with 10 goals. She finished the season ranked 11th in the NAIA with 12 assists, leading the Flames. Her 10 goals included two game winners. In her career, Aragona has amassed 49 goals in 70 games, adding 32 assists.
Tiger fans may remember Aragona, as she scored the lone Flames goal in the 1-1 tie between the two teams in the NAIA National Championship Semifinals game. The chip shot over the head of ONU goal keeper Wendy Espejel in the 68th minute of action sent the game into penalty kicks. The Tigers went on to advance to the finals 4-1, ending Lee’s reign at four consecutive national titles.
Aragona will finish her degree at Olivet in Physical Education. She is the daughter of Vinnie and Lisa Aragona.
