Vrosh captures CCAC honor

CHICAGO --- Olivet Nazarene University goalkeeper Sarah Vrosh (Ada, Mich.) was impressive in the first two starts of her collegiate career was recognized as the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week for the week ending Sept. 1 on Wednesday morning.
Vrosh, a freshman, was honored with defensive player of the week accolades after posting a pair of shutouts in the first two games of the season for the No. 2 nationally-ranked Tigers. Vrosh had big shoes to fill coming into the campaign having to replace three-year starter and two-time NAIA All-American Wendy Espejel and met the challenge head on last week. Vrosh recorded two saves in a 2-0 victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Ohio) in the first game of the ONU Classic on Friday before totaling six saves in another 2-0 victory, this time over Grace College (Ind.) on Saturday.
In the latter affair, Vrosh made a diving save with 2:30 left in the contest to keep Grace from tying the contest at 1-1. The Lancers had come into the season among others receiving votes in the NAIA Preseason Coaches' Poll.
