CHEBANSE, Ill. – Herscher High School’s Taylre Devine has signed a letter of intent to continue her education and playing career as a member of the Olivet Nazarene University women’s soccer team. She will join the Tigers in the fall of 2014.
Devine, a 5-4 midfielder, helped lead the Tigers to a 6-8-3 record as a junior. She enters her senior season as a three-year varsity starter and a three-time All-Conference honoree. She has been recognized by the Daily Journal as an All-Area player for three years, and was recognized as All-Sectional twice. She was selected as MVP as a junior and will serve as team captain for the second year this spring. As a junior, she broke the MHS career assist record.
Academically, Devine is a member of National Honor Society and the Honor Roll. Outside of soccer, she serves as the sports editor of the school paper and is actively involved in peer tutoring, and math team. She is a member of the Tri-Parish Youth Group.
“I chose Olivet for the over-all feel of the school. The campus is beautiful and the students walking around are very friendly,” says Devine of her decision. “When I did an official visit here, I knew that this was where I wanted to go.”
Devine is undecided about what she plans to study at Olivet. She is the daughter of Terri and Lenny Devine and has two brothers, Joe and Jared.
