Olivet posts come-from-behind win

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Senior Kelsey Warp’s first goal of the 2012 season proved to be the game winner for the No. 7 Olivet Nazarene University women’s soccer team. The Tigers came from behind to defeat No. 12 Hastings College (Neb.) 2-1 on Saturday, Sept. 8. 

Senior goal keeper Wendy Espejel, (Ontario, Cal.) gave up her first goal of the year in the first quarter to Kelsey Nealon at the 37.56 mark.  Senior Devin Johnston (Bloomingdale, Ill.) then tied the score with an unassisted goal at 49.23. 

Warp (Lake Arrowhead, Cal.)added Olivet’s second and final goal of the game at 55:59, to put the Tiger’s ahead for good. 

“I was really proud of how the girls kept their composure and adapted today,” said head coach Bill Bahr. “They played with heart.” 

Olivet travels to Cleveland Tenn. to participate in the Lee University Tournament. The Tigers will face Vanguard University (Cal.) at 5p.m.on Thursday, Sept. 14 and No. 1 Lee University at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
