BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Senior Jordan Wallek (Chicago Heights, Ill.) provided two goals and an assist to help the No. 7 Olivet Nazarene University women’s soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Aquinas College (Mich.) on Wednesday, Sept. 5.
The Tigers (3-0) started things off early as sophomore Katie Smith (Spring Lake, Mich.) took a pass from Wallek just over two minutes into the game for the first goal. Six minutes later, Wallek added her first goal of the night, unassisted.
The Tiger defense shut down the Saints (1-2) the entire game, allowing just two shots-on-goal, both in the first half. Senior goalkeeper Wendy Espejel (Ontario, Cal.) remains perfect in the net, not having allowed a goal all season.
Wallek added her second goal of the night and her third of the season at the 17 minute mark off of an assist by senior Meghan Pipal (Wheaton, Ill.).
"Our team came out and set the tempo of the game early, scoring quickly and efficiently," said head coach Bill Bahr. "In the second half we wanted to possess the ball and I thought we did a great job doing that. Jordan Wallek had a great game."
Olivet returns to the field on Saturday, Sept 8 at 1 p.m. hosting Hastings College (Neb).
