GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Freshman Tiffany Ray (Grandville, Mich.) didn’t started her Olivet Nazarene University swimming career quietly, instead the 4:42.13 she posted in the 400-Individual Medley set a new Olivet school record. The record setting performance was not enough to propel Olivet to a win, falling to Calvin College (Mich.) 114-122 and NCAA Div. I Wayne State University (Mich.) 58-181.
The Tigers opened the meet with a third place finish (1:50.51) in the 200-yard Medley Relay behind junior MacKenzie Anderson (Clifton, Ill.), sophomore Sydney Harris (Fort Wayne, Ind.), junior Laura Bryant (Escondido, Cal.) and sophomore Kelsey Weener (Holland, Mich.).
Freshman Hayley Ronci (Goshen, Ind.) captured the Tigers only first place (5:22.74) finish in the 500-yard freestyle. Weener and Anderson each took third in the 50-yard freestyle (24.96) and the 100-yard backstroke (59.25), respectively.
The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Anderson, senior Samantha Elam (Granada, Cal), Ray and Weener took second with a time of 1:42.30.
Olivet will return to action at the two-day Woehnker Invite hosted by Wabash College on Nov. 22-23.
