Olivet rolls past Wheaton; Tigers win 11 of 13 events

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Despite the cold, snowy conditions outside, the Olivet Nazarene University men’s and women’s swim teams were sizzling hot in the pool on Friday, Jan. 31 as they hosted Wheaton College (Ill.). The Tigers captured first place in24-of-26 events, including going 1-2-3 in eight. The lady Tigers came away with a 171-66 win, while the men claimed a 201.5-32.5 victory.
Freshman Tiffany Ray (Granville, Mich.) and sophomore Jake Anderson (Clifton, Ill.) led the Tigers, each capturing first place in all three events that they entered on the day. Ray took first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.68), 200-yard backstroke (2:11.03) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:39.75). Anderson captured the 200-yard individual medley (1:55.84), the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.15) and finished up with the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.62).
Sophomores Sydney Harris (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Calvin Price (Grahamstown, South Africa) each captured two titles on the afternoon, both winning the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststrokes. Harris posted a 1:06.94 in the 100-yard and a 2:27.59 in the 200-yard, while Price, her male counterpart, finished the 100-yard in 58.77 and the 200-yard in 2:09.72.

The women’s Tiger team returns to the pool on Friday, Feb. 10 to take on Robert Morris University. The meet is schedule to start at 5:00 p.m. in the Aquatics Center of the Perry Student Life and Recreation Center in Bourbonnais.
