BOURBONNAIS, Il. – Senior Ashlan Allison (Anderson, Ind.) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) player of the week and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Player of the Week for the week ending April 8.
Allison was on fire this week in all her matches. Against the University of St. Francis (Ill.), Allison won in both doubles and singles. She teamed with junior Tifanny Aguirre (Bogota, Columbia) for a 9-7 win at #2 doubles, overcoming a 4-7 point deficit from earlier in the match. In singles play, Allison won 6-0, 6-0 at #3 singles. Against Lewis University (Ill.), a NCAA Division II school, Allison won 6-0, 6-2 wins at #4 singles; while in doubles with her partner and fellow senior Taylor Stephens (Ada, Mich.), Allison captured a 9-7 win at #2 doubles, overcoming a 4-7 deficit. Against Northwestern Ohio University, Allison dominated the court with Stephens again, coming out on top with a 9-7 win in #2 doubles, while winning 6-3, 6-1 in her singles match. Against No. 21 Marian University (Ind.), Allison partnered with Stephens again to bring home an 8-2 win at #2 doubles; at the same time, Allison captured her singles match 6-2, 6-4.
Overall, the No. 18 Olivet Nazarene University Tennis team was 3-1 for the week. They will return to action on Wednesday, April 10 as they travel to CCAC rival Robert Morris University (Ill.).
