Buchmann named CCAC Player of the Week

CHICAGO – Freshman Seraphine Buchmann (Illnau, Switzerland) has been named women’s tennis player of the week by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference for the week ending April 14. Buchmann helped the No. 14 Tigers upset then No. 13 Indiana Wesleyan University. The Wildcats came to town with a perfect 13-0 record before falling to Olivet 6-3 on Saturday, April 13.
Buchmann teamed up with Aziza Butoyi (Burundi, Bujumbura) to beat the doubles team of (ITA No.8) Andrea Meyering and Lauren Wilson 8-1. She got off to a slow start at number two singles against (ITA No. 19) Katie Wilson, finding herself down 1-4 in her first set. She was able to battle back to make the first set competitive and set up her confidence going into the second and third sets. She won the grueling match 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.
Buchmann has helped lead the Tigers to a 11-6 overall record and 3-0 in the CCAC. Olivet is scheduled to play Judson on Thursday, April 18 at 3:00 p.m.
