Tigers pick up early spring break win over Winona State

ORLANDO, Fla. – Freshman Priscilla Nunez remains unbeaten at No. 1 singles for the Olivet Nazarene University women’s tennis team. Nunez and the Tigers got spring break off to a great start, downing NCAA DII Winona State University 7-2 in action on Monday, March 10.
The Tigers (3-4) swept in doubles play with Nunez teaming up with sophomore Serephine Buchmann to win 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Senior Aziza Butoyi and Tifany Aguirre held on to in 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, while senior Lindsey Peterson and sophomore Clara Ruegsegger won 9-7 at No. 3 doubles.
Nunez defeated Hannah Potter 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Butyi picked up a 6-4, 6-0 win over Jess Urban at No. 2 singles and Buchmann defeated Aimee Basinski 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3. Winona’s only two wins came at No. 4 and No. 6 singles where Marta Quereda fell 1-6, 1-6 to Bri Havelka and Ruegsegger lost 4-6, 5-7 to Brittney Freund. Aguirre picked up the win at No. 5, defeating Andrea Krueger 6-1, 6-2.
Olivet returns to action on Tuesday, March 11 to take on Warner University at 5:00 p.m. (EST).
