CHICAGO --- Going a combined 6-2 in singles and doubles play this past week, Olivet Nazarene University's Priscila Nunez (Montreal, Canada) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending March 16, it was announced Tuesday morning by the league office.
Nunez's only setbacks came on Friday when she dropped both her singles and doubles matches to NAIA No. 7-ranked Embry-Riddle (Fla.). She won each of her three other singles matches as well as her other three doubles matches in the No. 1 spot on both levels.
Just a freshman, Nunez defeated Winona State (Minn.), Warner (Fla.) and Northwestern (Iowa) in the minimum two sets in singles action, while dropping only seven games out of 24 against those foes on the doubles side between March 10-12.
For the season, she is 7-1 in both singles and doubles play.
Olivet Nazarene, which is ranked No. 24 in the latest NAIA poll, went 3-1 on the week to improve to 5-4 overall.
