BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Coming off of a disappointing loss just
three days earlier, the No. 23 Olivet Nazarene University women’s tennis team
snapped back to upset No. 21 Marian University 6-3 in non-conference action on
Tuesday, April 8.
Freshman Priscila Nunez (Montreal, Canada) and senior Aziza
Butoyi (Burundi, Bujumbura) continue to dominate at Nos. 1 and 2 singles. Nunez
picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win over Brittney Horlacher, while Butoyi downed Hannah
Knust 6-3, 6-1. Sophomore Seraphine Buchmann (Illnau, Switzerland) also picked
up a 6-2, 6-0 win over Olivia Pursell at No. 3 singles. Marion picked up
singles victories at Nos. 4 and 5, with Anna Putter defeating Lindsey Peterson
(New Castle, Penn.) 6-1, 6-1. Grace
Neathing defeated Tifanny Aguirre (Bogota, Columbia) 2-6, 6-4, 10-5. Sophomore Clara
Ruegsegger (Greenfield, Ind.) picked up a win at No. 6 singles, downing Colleen
Younger 6-3, 6-4.
In doubles action, Nunez and Buchmann picked up an 8-1 win
at No. 1 over Horlacher and Knust. Sarah Putter and Anna Putter put up a fight
at No. 2 doubles, but Butoyi and Peterson held them off to pick up an 8-5 win. Marion
took No. 3 doubles 8-3.
The Tigers return to action at 3:00p.m. Wednesday, April 9
when they take on defending CCAC regular season champion Robert Morris
