JOLIET, Ill. – Dominant. That is the best word to describe the performance of the Olivet Nazarene University women’s track and field team at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, April 20 at Memorial Stadium in Joliet, Ill. The Tigers racked up 323 points in route to their fourth consecutive CCAC title, 181 points ahead of second place University of Saint Francis (Ill.).

Olivet captured titles in 12-of-20 total events in the competition, including 10 individual titles and two relays. The titles were split evenly between the track and the field events, with the Tigers taking gold in six-of-eight field events. It appears the Tigers will be a force to be reckoned with for quite some time as there were only two senior gold medalists.

Leading the way on the track was sophomore Alexis Davis (Trotwood, Ohio) captured individual titles in the 100m (12.82) and the 200m (26.40), while running lead in the 4X100m relay (49.38). She was joined in the relay by freshmen Peyton Kirkland (Lindenhurst, Ill.) and Taneka Lawson (Toledo, Ohio) and sophomore Alexandra Ortiz (Ottawa, Ill.). Lawson also finished second in the 100m (13.13).

Freshman Kalla Gold (Eureka, Ill.) crossed the finish line first in the 400m (1:00.06) with sophomore Kamaria Goedhart (Rochester, Minn.) right behind in second place (1:00.14). The Tigers also took 1-2 in the 5000m run with juniors Leah Livingston (Gibson City, Ill.) taking the gold (18:10.96) and Janina Roche (Crete, Ill.) the silver (18:13.79). The 4x400m relay team of Goedhart, Gold, Kirkland and Ortiz also captured first (4:06.72).

Freshmen Jordyn Nettleton (Foosland, Ill.) took second in the 100m hurdles (16.10) and the 400m hurdles (1:09.2), while Alyssa Faulks (Caldwell, Idaho) finished second in the 3000m steeplechase (12:11.83). Senior Hannah Endrizzi (Normal, Ill.) crossed the finish line second in the 800m run (2:19.87).

The lone senior winners came in the field events. Senior Caitlin McPherson (Watertown, Wis.) captured two of the Tigers six field event titles, first in the discus (41.07m) and hammer throw (39.83m). Senior Kaitlin Loos (Sterling, Ill.) took first in the high jump (1.52m) and second in the javelin (35.27).

Sophomores Anna Stiker (Waterman, Ill.) placed first in the pole vault (2.89m), while Olivia Casey (Bloomington, Ill.) took first in the long jump (5.29m) and Jacqueline Fayne (Chicago, Ill.) capture the title in the triple jump (10.98m). The Tigers went 1-2 in the hammer throw and the pole vault with freshman Emily Thompson (Dyer, Ind.) taking second in the hammer (38.67) and senior Mary Koch-Imig (Tremont, Ill.) in the vault (2.74m).

Olivet wastes little time celebrating as they begin preparing for the three-day Drake Relays that begin on Thursday, April 25 in DesMoines, Iowa. The Tigers will also compete on Saturday, April 26 in the Twilight Invite hosted by Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill.
