Tigers sweep CCAC track awards

CHICAGO – Senior Caitlin McPherson (Watertown, Wis.) and sophomore Alexis Davis (Trotwood, Ohio) claimed top honors at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Track and Field Championships on Saturday, April 20. McPherson was named women’s field event athlete of the meet, while Davis claimed the title on the track side. Head coach Mike McDowell was named CCAC Coach of the Year for leading the Tigers to their fourth consecutive CCAC title, accumulating 323 points.
McPherson accumulated a total of 25 points for the Tigers winning efforts. She captured first in the hammer throw (39.83m) and the discus throw (41.07m). She also took fourth in the shot put (10.87m).
Davis took gold in the 100m (12.82) and the 200m (26.40). She also ran the lead leg of the first place 4x100m relay team along with teammate’s freshmen Peyton Kirkland (Lindenhurst, Ill.) and Taneka Lawson (Toledo, Ohio) and sophomore Alexandra Ortiz (Ottawa, Ill.). Davis was the co-MVP of the meet as a freshman.
