GENEVA, Ohio – The Olivet Nazarene University women’s 4x400m
relay team of freshman Laura D’Angelo (McHenry, Ill.), sophomores Kammie
Goedhart (Rochester, Minn.) and Peyton Kirkland (Lindenhurst, Ill.) and junior
Alex Ortiz (Ottawa, Ill.) set a new school record of 3:50.59 to advance to the
finals at the NAIA Indoor National Championships.
The three-day championship kicked off today at the Spire
Center in Geneva, Ohio. The Tigers, who qualified total of 16 athletes to the
contest, with just preliminaries of the 4x400, 4x800 and the 5000 meter run happening
on opening day.
The 4x800 meter relay team of freshman Karley Brown (Lees
Summit, Mo.), senior Christy Trank (Winnebago, Ill.), Angelica LaFaemina and
junior Kylie Lippencott (Crawfordsville, Ind.) posted a time of 9:17.83 to
qualify for tomorrows finals.
Freshman Sarah Ray (Warsaw, Ind.) ran a solid 17:52.08 in
the 5000 meter run, finishing 15th overall, but not advancing to the
Olivet returns to action tomorrow with running and field events
both start at noon (EST).
