GREENVILLE, Ill. – On what was arguable the nicest day so
far this spring, the Olivet Nazarene University women’s track and field team
showed up at the Greenville College Select Meet on Saturday, April 5 ready to
compete. In all, the Tigers captured
gold in six events, led by senior Rachel Carman ( Keokuk, Iowa) and sophomore
Amy Blucker (Galesburg, Ill.) with two each.
The Tigers finished second overall in the 11 team field with
116.5 points, while Lindenwood University (Mo.) took first with 133.50. Rounding
out the top five were Illinois Wesleyan University with 103, Washington University
(Mo.) with 89 and the host with 54.
Carman set a new school record in the high jump when she
posted a 1.65m (5’ 5”) performance. She followed that up with another first
place finish in the long jump, notching 5.38m (17’8”). Meanwhile, Blucker captured the titles of the
hammer throw and the shot put, setting new school records in both. She tossed the shot put 14.41m (47’ 3.5”) and
the hammer 51.93m (170’ 4”). She also took second in the discus, throwing
41.35m (135’8”). Junior Jacqueline Fayne (Chicago) won the long jump, posting 10.84m
On the track, junior Kammie Goedhart (Rochester, Minn.)
posted a 58.10 in the 400m to take first place. Senior Christy Trank (Winnebago,
Ill.) and junior Kylie Lippencott (Crawfordsville, Ind.)finished 2-3 in the
800m, posting times of 2:19.54 and 2:20.60, respectively.
Next up, some of the Tigers head to the University of
Tennessee in Knoxville for the Sea Ray Relays from April 10-12. The rest of the
squad will head to Western Illinois University on Satuday, April 12 for the Lee
