BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Mike McDowell, head coach of the Olivet Nazarene University track and field team, is excited to announce the addition of Alexandra Acker to his staff. Acker, an NCAA Division I All-American, comes to Bourbonnais from the University of Oklahoma where she holds the program record in the pole vault.

A native of Erie, Pennsylvania, Acker graduated from Oklahoma with an undergraduate degree in elementary education in August of 2011 after transferring from West Virginia University.  She received her masters of education from Oklahoma in December of 2013, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.

During her career, Acker broke the Sooner pole vault record five times. She currently holds both the indoor (13-6.00) and outdoor (14-3.25) marks. She earned her first NCAA All-America honor with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championship in 2012. She has also competed at the US Olympic Team Trials.

"Alexandra is a great addition to our staff. She is obviously a great pole vaulter but has also mentored in the other jumping events under one of the best jumps coaches in the country,” said McDowell of the addition.  “The knowledge and experience she has attained in the jumping events will benefit our athletes. I also anticipate that Alexandra will be a leader away from the track as a missions and discipleship leader."
