The Tigers start each softball season with high expectations. They often finish the season vying for a national title.
Olivet Nazarene University is the only program in Illinois — and one of just three in the Midwest — to qualify for the NAIA National Championship and finish ranked among the top 20 teams in three of the last four seasons. That kind of consistency is possible thanks to veteran head coach Ritchie Richardson, who earned his 700th career victory at Olivet in 2012.
In addition to the team’s accomplishments, Olivet has produced 38 All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference honorees, 13 CCAC Players of the Year, 14 NAIA All-Americans and 15 NAIA Scholar-Athletes during Richardson’s tenure — numbers no other CCAC team can match.
